A Spray-On Microemulsion with Mold-Proof Effect on Paper

Archives, ancient books, and documents kept in museums libraries are the carriers of historic cultural information left by our ancestors. However, these paper relics can show notorious signs degradation, e.g., fungal development. Due to organic components objects, they suffer from biodeterioration. The excreted substances fungi fungi’s structures themselves often colored interfere with readability artifacts, diminishing their artistic monetary values. In this study, we collected separated moldy archives Archives Shaanxi Province (China) obtained identification results eight kinds molds. Clotrimazole (CTZ) quaternary ammonium salt chitosan (HACC) were combined prepare a microemulsion. Synergies CTZ HACC could enhance antifungal effect reduce required concentration single drug. composite emulsion effectively improve retention drugs on surface relics, solubility hydrophobic drugs, provide data basis for anti-mold preservation relics.
